The Polish American Historical Association is a non-profit,
tax-exempt organization devoted to the study of Polish American history
and culture. Founded in 1942 as part of the Polish Institute of Arts
and Sciences in America, PAHA became an autonomous scholarly society
in 1948. As an affiliate of the American Historical Association, PAHA
assists and cooperates with individuals and organizations interested
in Polish American life and history. For the Goals and Activities

To meet the 2007-2009 PAHA Officers and Board of Directors and find
out about their latest work in the field of Polish American Studies,

The 2009 Annual Meeting will be held January 2 - 5,
2009 in New York City
based at the Hilton New York & Sheraton New York Hotels. Paper and
panel proposals are now being accepted for the PAHA Annual Meeting.
Session organizers should collect the following information, which
will be needed to submit a complete proposal:
* Session title (of no more than 20 words)
* Session abstract (up to 500 words)
* Paper or presentation titles
* Abstract or description for each presentation (up to 300 words)
* Biographical paragraph or c.v. summary (up to 250 words) for each
participant
* Correct mailing and e-mail address for each participant
* Chair (required) and commentator (optional) for the session
* Audiovisual needs, if any

proposals (in email & word format are strongly preferred.) Written

The Polish American Historical Association held its Annual Conference
in conjunction with the American Historical Association in Washington,
D.C., January 3-6, 2008. See the Conference

PAHA will award its annual Graduate Research Paper Award,
designed to stimulate research into Polish-American history and culture
and to recognize outstanding work by a young scholar in the humanities
or social sciences. The award includes the opportunity to present the
paper as part of the program of the Polish American Historical Association's
Conference. The winner will receive a stipend of $500.00 to offset costs
associated with travel to the Conference. In addition the essay will
be considered for publication in the PAHA journal, Polish American Studies.
The Award Committee solicits either direct submissions or faculty nominations
of substantial original research papers, not longer than approximately
35 pages (ca. 9,000 words). The candidate for the award must be a graduate
student at the time of the application or nomination. A current c.v.
and a one page summary of the essay must accompany the submission. Deadline:
April 15, 2007 (Papers received after this date cannot be considered.)
Announcement: on or about May 1, 2007.

PAHA annual conference is scheduled in conjunction with the American
Historical Association (AHA). The full information about the AHA conference

conference only do not need to register for the AHA conference, but
are required to register for the
PAHA conference by sending $20.00 registration fee to the PAHA Headquarters
