Two Calls For Thesaurus Polonia Fellowship
The Thesaurus Poloniae is a three-month fellowship programme of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage of the Republic of Poland for research on culture, history as well as the multicultural heritage of the Republic of Poland, both past and present, and broadly understood Central Europe. There are two categories. The ”Senior Programme” is addressed to university professors and senior lecturers and the “Junior Programme” to PhD holders and doctoral students.
The programme provider offers access to research facilities, archives, library resources as well as to education and research programmes of Cracow’s research and cultural institutions. Next, accommodation and monthly fellowships are offered. A successful candidate for the programme will be granted a monthly fellowship of PLN 3 500, i.e. ca. EUR 850, for participants in the Senior Programme or PLN 2 500, i.e. EUR 600, for participants in the Junior Programme, as well as a one-off grant which will be received by participants with the first tranche of the fellowship amount to cover the purchase of books and other research aids (PLN 1500, ca EUR 400).
There are two calls.
Call 1 Opening: 15th January – 28th February 2010 Results Announcement: Before the end of March Fellowship Time: 1st May – 31st July 2010
Call 2 Opening: 15th May – 30th June 2010 Results Announcement: Before the end of August Fellowship Time: 1st September – 30th Novemeber 2010
Those interested in applying for a Thesaurus Poloniae fellowship are kindly requested to post the downloadable documents below to the International Cultural Centre by the above deadlines: CV, letters of recommendation from two research tutors (for applicants to the Junior Programme only) and an essay on the research programme you plan to conduct during your stay in Krakow (up to 500 words.). The Immigration History Research Center at the University of Minnesota offers Grants In Aid to assist scholars traveling to conduct research for a specified residency at the IHRC.
The IHRC will offer two levels of funding support in the upcoming 2010-2011 funding cycle. Grants In Aid of up to $500 are available to scholars, including graduate students, faculty and independent scholars, traveling to conduct research for at least one week (five research days) at the IHRC.
Post-doctoral scholars are eligible to apply for additional funding in 2010-2011, for a maximum award of $1,000. The post-doctoral Grant In Aid supports a two-week residency (ten research days).
The deadline for applications for 2010-2011 awards is June 1, 2010.
The IHRC is an internationally prominent migration studies center with expansive archives documenting immigration to the United States, from the latter 19th century to current refugee migrations. Key areas of coverage include European and Near Eastern immigrants (1880-1930) and 20th-century refugees, such as Displaced Persons after World War II and Southeast Asian, African and other forced migrations. The Center has exceptional archival collections of fraternal organization records, personal files, and immigrant and refugee assistance organization materials, as well as one of the most extensive ethnic print collections in the United States.
